That's a little more like it (R)
Carli Lloyd's volley in the 27th minute gave the US Women's Olympic Team a 1-0 victory over Japan this morning and an important three points in the Group G standings. Tuesday's match against New Zealand is a rematch of a game played at Chicago's Soldier Field exactly one year earlier.
On August 12, 2007, more than 7,000 fans witnessed Abby Wambach score two goals to lead the US to a 6-1 victory over the Football Ferns (formerly known as the SWANZ).
If the US can beat the former SWANZ on Tuesday, their reward will likely be a quarterfinal match Friday against either Germany or Brazil - who squared off in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup Championship match.
